MANASSES or Manasseh was the son of Ezekias and was the longest reigning king of his line, ruling for 55 years. Manasseh is not, however, remembered with affection since his reaction against the religious reforms of his father was accompanied by persecution of the prophets. Manasseh is represented by later writers as the man who filled the cup of Judah’s iniquity to overflowing, and who thus made the final catastrophe of the nation Inevitable. Bishop John Davies
