Son of Solomon, and ruler of Israel (later known as Judah) in the mid tenth century BC. Like the other kings in the window, he is shown holding a sceptre.

REHOBOAM is the son of Solomon and reigned as king for 17 years. He as an unwise leader of his people and his harsh treatment of the northern tribes led to a revolt and the establishment of a rival kingdom. The northern tribes had simply asked for compassionate treatment and an easier burden than his father Solomon had imposed on them, but their request was met with a harsh rebuke: “My father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions”.
